Henry and grandad had fun with a big box, hiding and pretending to be posted to Auntie Emma in Morecambe. We had a trip to Victoria Park, spending time climbing the big frame in the play area.
On Saturday, Henry spent some time watching his caterpillars before going to the park with daddy. In the afternoon he wanted to practice his bike riding and did much better than he has done previously. When making some chocolate rice crispy cakes, his elaborate scooping covered the kitchen in rice crispies! Kit fell out with Henry today as he grabbed her hair and she yelped. He spent a long time saying, “Cry, sorry!”
More caterpillar time on Sunday morning, with Henry calling them snakes and worms. He had lots of toys out, but helped to tidy them up too. We had a trip to Harold Park and Henry enjoyed saying hello to the birds.
Monday saw us visiting Cawthorne Park in Barnsley to meet up with some friends in a socially distanced way. Henry had fun in the playground and feeding the ducks, coots and geese. We also had a long walk around the park and Henry did really well to keep up, earning an ice cream at the end. Disaster struck in the afternoon as daddy broke Henry’s drum. It couldn’t be fixed so daddy had to buy a replacement – coming home with not one drum but a whole drum kit! Henry had lots of fun with it and didn’t want to go to bed.
On Tuesday, Henry helped plant some seeds but he really enjoyed watering the plants. It was a warm day, so his paddling pool came out and we had a picnic lunch outside. Henry was able to observe his caterpillars much more closely as we bought him a magnifying glass. After baking some brownies, we allowed Henry to help wash up.
Nostell Priory was the destination on Wednesday. We had a long walk again with Henry picking up stick in Joiner’s Wood and running around. We went to look at the ducks and swans before having a picnic lunch in the gardens. We cut out walk short though as Henry was getting hot, tired and grumpy. In the evening, grandad came around and Henry showed off his drum kit. Before bed, we visited West End Park to round off another busy day.
