Henry began this week with disturbed sleep and daddy sleeping in with him. Easter egg shaped ginger biscuits were decorated, with Henry wanting to eat quite a lot of the hundreds and thousands that were supposed to be on them. While mummy and daddy vacced their cars out, Henry worked on his ‘driving’ skills. He was also very excited about a worm on the pavement – leading to the raised beds getting a dog over to try and hunt for more. A trip to East Bierley park rounded off the end to this first week of the Easter holiday break.
Grandpa Eric arrived for a visit. Henry hadn’t seen him since Christmas Day but they got in straight away, digging in Henry’s sandpit and being shown around the garden. Henry again had us digging for worms – but we also found a spider, a snail and a millipede! We visited the park too, so Henry could show off his running and climbing skills – Grandpa was very impressed. Later, we visited Mazebrook Park in Drub for more climbing and chasing each other in the grass.
The Easter bunny visited and left Henry some clues to find some treats. He did really well with a bit of help to keep his focus. We visited Wentworth Castle Gardens and followed another Easter trail. Henry found all the numbers, pointing and shouting them out and was rewarded with a chocolate egg at the end for his efforts. “Eat now,” was his response! On the way home, we visited the farm to see Grandad David and Henry got to ride in the tractor, not just sit. He helped collect a bale of hay and also tipped the muck out from the cows.
The rest of the week consisted of baking, a trip to Victoria Park – where he was convinced he saw an owl bird in the hedge – playing in his sandpit, and being confused by snow. He wanted to build a snowman after the tiniest flurry on Tuesday. East Ardsley Reservoir, Grange Moor and Lotherton Hall were also places we went to in this busy holiday week. At Lotherton, Henry was very excited to see and say hello to a cat in the gardens and explore the jungle of wild garlic. We rounded off the week with a video chat with Auntie Emma.
