Week 115: Friday, 9th to Thursday, 15th April 2021

The week started as usual with Grandpa David coming for breakfast after Henry had woken up very early in the night. They played a matching game and Henry did very well at turn-taking. He didn’t win any of the games, but was very excited to play and clapped lots anyway! We had two doorstep visitors, one giving him an Easter gift of some books and an aquadoodle mat which Henry wanted to play with straight away.

Saturday saw us have a trip to Batley Park to meet up with his friend Sam and his mummy, Emma. He was very good at saying their names. Both boys were distracted by the ice cream van but we managed to steer them away from it. Henry’s climbing skills are getting better and better: he managed to get up on to the big slide without help today. After lunch we played with his shop – Henry likes to pretend the scanner is a phone – we baked some biscuits and Grandpa David dropped round at teatime making for a busy day!

Sunday was to be even busier though. Henry helped bake mummy’s birthday cake and wash up afterwards. We had a trip to Harlow Carr Gardens – the furthest we have been in ages! The person on the reception desk gave Henry a sticker just for being cute and having a nice tank top on. He enjoyed running around and looking at all the flowers before going on a snake hunt! We found a very bendy twig that hissed when it went near Henry, so it must’ve been a snake… Henry also had great fun saying hello to the chickens, swinging on garden seats, running up and down hills, going through tunnels and looking in one of the ponds!

With his childminder this week, Henry visited Wibsey Park, Thornes Park (where he enjoyed watching the birds being fed and trying to catch them) and Greenhead Park. Ever a fan of vehicles, while the girls played with Barbies, Henry played with her car and bike. He had lots of fun in the garden, playing on the slide, swing, seesaw, having fun with balls and climbing into a big empty box. While out and about he continued to show off his climbing skills on a big dinosaur and chasing each other’s shadows. They had a new doctor’s set out and Henry was calling himself “Doctor Pitts,” making everyone laugh. He did plenty of singing, as always and had lots of fun with his friends.
