Week 117: Friday, 23rd to Thursday, 29th April 2021

After breakfast with Grandad and daddy, Henry wanted to bake chocolate buns. When they were out of the oven, it was time to go to Rhythm Time. It was only Henry’s third class in a whole year so he was very quiet and did lots of shy staring. He did join in with some encouragement though and was up trying to pop bubbles near the end of the class. In the afternoon we went to see Pat and Stephen to deliver buns and played out in the garden. After tea, we went splashing in puddles and to the park.

Saturday was a seaside day! Henry clutched his spade all the way to Morecambe in the car! We arrived at Auntie Emma’s house and saw her two cats through the window before going to the beach. We all took turns in digging and building sandcastles, then mummy and Henry had a paddle – it was very cold! We sat on the prom and had fish and chips for lunch. Grandad had given Henry some money to spend at the seaside and asked if he would bring him a stick of rock back. We went to a toyshop where Henry spotted some Room On The Broom soft toys… he wanted them all! Auntie Emma bought him the witch and a Stick Man baby. He also got a green bird and a new tunnel for his train set. The next stop was Happy Mount Park for an ice cream and a turn on the train with daddy. He fell asleep on the way home which was not good as he was awake until 11pm!

Surprisingly, Henry woke up bright and early on Sunday after his late night after hearing road repair vehicles on the main road. After breakfast, we went up so he could have a closer look at the diggers and rollers. It was very noisy and exciting! We had a trip to the park and then played in the garden for a while. Henry spent ages “driving” daddy’s car whilst mummy went out to get some things for the garden. After lunch, we went back into the garden but Henry was very tired and grumpy so he had to come back inside. We managed to keep him awake by watching videos of himself and then playing his colours game. Whilst mummy made tea, Henry listened to some brass band music with daddy. Just as he was finishing tea, Grandad arrived to see if Henry had had a nice time visiting Auntie Emma. Henry gave him his sticks of rock and showed off his new train tunnel.

With his childminder this week, Henry visited Judy Woods, Dewsbury Park and Dewsbury Country Park. He did plenty of climbing, running and throwing leaves – Henry tries his best to climb on everything the older ones do and mostly managing it. He enjoyed playing with a farm (albeit briefly), a car garage, an ironing board (Henry enjoyed hanging the dolls’ clothes on the line) and outside in the garden. In the parks, Henry always seems to find the muddiest parts. He enjoyed reading The Very Hungry Caterpillar and playing with some construction pipes too.
