After breakfast, Henry helped Grandpa David open his cards and presents. It was then time for Rhythm Time – Henry joined in much better this week but was still rather shy. After dropping daddy off, we went to Kirklees Light Railway with Grandpa. We had a lovely time, riding up and down on the railway and on the small train around the duck pond.
The playground was lovely and Henry had great fun in there. Henry did lots of train impressions and saying hello and goodbye to the trains – he was very cute. Grandpa managed to keep him awake on the way home which was good as that meant it was a straightforward bedtime after his bath and stories.
Henry was super helpful on Saturday, learning how to clean windows and tidying his toys ready for the vacuum. He also helped tidy the spoon from the éclair custard mix by licking it clean. In the afternoon, he practised lacing his beads, did some mess free water painting and went to the park with mummy. He spent ages on the swing, then did lots of “Fireman Sam” sliding down the pole. We had a walk along the bottom road to “splash” in puddles. There was great excitement as 2 of the butterflies hatched out – Henry telling them to ‘wake up’ every day must have worked! Grandpa and two of his friends came to tea – Henry was over-excited, running around lots and showing them all his garden toys and the fish in the pond. It was late to bed, but he was tired so fell asleep quickly.
Henry was, however, awake during the night and woke up early, so he didn’t have his usual amount of sleep. He was eager to go out on his bike so we went to Crow Nest Park after breakfast. He did really well, riding for about 10 minutes but then just wanted to run and play. We had to shelter from the rain near the lake, so sat and watched the ducks, saying hello whenever they came near. After lunch, Henry went with mummy to collect our shopping and helped with putting it all away. We had fun playing his colour game and making shapes from playdoh. Henry was good at rolling the dough to make worms and we sang, “Wiggly Woo,” as we were playing. He got very tired whilst eating tea but did perk up when he asked Alexa to play The Floral Dance.
Monday was a bank holiday and we braved the weather this morning and went to meet Kirsty who works with mummy at RSPB St Aiden’s in Leeds. We had a lovely walk around, seeing and hearing lots of birds in the reed beds, including a huge heron, lots of geese and goslings and we heard lots of bitterns making their funny booming noise. Henry was a bit slow walking around and ended up in his buggy. In the afternoon, Henry wanted to “drive” daddy’s car and play with his playdoh. Once again he made some wiggly woo worms.
With his childminder, in this short week, they hid from the rain indoors, visited a toddler group and went to Knowles Park. Henry loved playing with cars, Happyland toys, reading books, learning colours, practising counting and making caterpillar artwork. Henry had fun pretending his was the Hungry Caterpillar, eating all the food, rather than making it. At the toddler group, he was a little confused and wanted to go to a park instead. On the Thursday, he enjoyed seeing a horse in a field but was also scared by a dog in the park.
