After breakfast on Friday, Henry wanted to bake biscuits. He was very good at pouring the ingredients into the bowl and mixing them together, although he did spend a long time licking the spoon. Henry did lots of dancing in the afternoon waiting in for the gas man and was very pleased when daddy arrived back home before we went up to bed.
On Saturday, after breakfast, we went into the garden to play and check the plants. Henry helped to water them and had fun in his swing. Some friends came to drop off some flowers and Henry showed them around the garden, pointing out the pond and the fish. Whilst mummy did garden jobs, Henry and daddy went to jump in imaginary puddles on our bottom road; he kept jumping in with both feet shouting, “splash!” We watched a bit of Prince Philip’s funeral and Henry was disappointed the buglers didn’t play The Floral Dance.
Lotherton Hall was the location to visit on Sunday. Henry said daddy had to sit in the back with him and read his book. The playground was very busy, so we avoided it, starting off in Wildlife World. Henry was excited to say hello to all the animals, in particular the warty pigs – or water pigs as he kept calling them. We had a lovely picnic and adventures in the woods, walking on logs and following paths through the wild garlic, finishing off with ice cream. Back at home, Henry watched a bit of motor racing with daddy before wanting Alexa to play “Row Row Row Boat” and “Rhymes”; it was very cute.
With his childminder this week, Henry visited Nostell Priory, Springhead Park, a toddler group and had a lazy garden day one day. He was scared when a little dog jumped up at him and just wanted to hold his childminder’s hand afterwards. Once he calmed down, he happily picked daisies and dandelions. While walking at Nostell, he was fascinated by ducklings and a squirrel climbing a tree. He was also upset by a bee flying by. On another walk, he found bridges to run over and stones to throw into the stream. He showed all the other children how to jump in imaginary puddles, like last week, getting them all splashing together. He also loved playing in a water tray, filling, pouring, splashing and throwing most of one afternoon.
