Tuesday, 25th August 2020: Nineteen months old

Well, we knew it was going to rain today, but this was another level of soggy! Henry was lovely and dry under his pram rain cover, but didn’t like being under it. Mummy and daddy would have gladly swapped places with him though!

We had a walk around Wooler to get the information for four geocaches and found two of them before giving in and going back to the cottage to dry off. In the afternoon we had booked tickets to The Alnwick Garden, so went there to get wet too! Henry was fast asleep when we looked around the Poison Garden, which was probably good as he wasn’t tempted to touch any of the deadly plants! He woke up just in time to visit the Serpent Garden and was very interested in all the water features and sculptures there. We went in the Bamboo Labyrinth to get out of the rain, but took longer than expected to get back out again as it really was a labyrinth! The highlight of the trip was The Grand Cascade fountains. Henry loved it and was very cross when it stopped the sequence.

For tea we had booked a table at The Dirty Bottles restaurant. Henry was so good, even though we were there for two hours! He really enjoyed his hotdog and chips followed by ice cream, but also wanted to taste mummy and daddy’s meals too.
